She will serve as exec VP of program strategy

MTV has tapped Sarah Tomassi Lindman to serve as the cabler’s new exec VP of program strategy.

Lindman joins from sister net Teen Nick (formerly The N), where she was senior VP and general manager. She replaces John MacDonald, who has exited the net.

Lindman will oversee MTV’s schedule, as well as cross-platform digitial video distribution. She’ll also work with MTV’s creative teams in mapping out the channel’s programming strategies, and help supervise acquisitions.

Exec reports to both MTV general manager Stephen Friedman and programming prexy Tony DiSanto. She’ll be based in New York.

“Her experience in acquisitions and the business of television makes her an invaluable asset to us as we continue to reinvent the network with new programming models and tactics in this digital age,” DiSanto said.

Lindman had been with The N (including Noggin, from which The N was spun off) since Sept. 1998. Before that, she was director of programming at Kids’ WB.

“Her incredible experience developing and growing The N and her visceral understanding of the millennial audience will help ensure MTV’s leadership,” Friedman said.
