Lady Gaga, Beyonce top VMA noms

Ladies lead the pack with nine nods each

Divas extraordinaire Lady Gaga and Beyonce led the pack with the most nominations, nine, at the MTV Video Music Awards, with both drawing mentions for video of the year.

Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” will compete against Britney Spears’ “Womanizer,” Eminem’s “We Made You” and Kanye West’s “Love Lockdown” for top honors.

Other major contenders at the VMAs include Spears, who nabbed seven noms, and Eminem, Coldplay and West, who are each up for four prizes.

Taylor Swift, Pink, Muse and Green Day are slated to perform.

The VMAs, to be hosted by Russell Brand, will be handed out at the Sept. 13 telecast in Gotham.
