Jackson hot in art world

Auction house pulls painting for better price

The recent death of Michael Jackson hasn’t merely raised his stock in the music world but in the auction houses as well. The King of Pop’s portrait by the king of Pop Art, Andy Warhol, who died in 1987, was withdrawn from the Vered Gallery’s auction that closed Sunday in East Hampton, N.Y. “The significance of the painting at this particular time warrants that we provide the greatest number of prospective purchasers the greatest opportunity to acquire the work,” said the gallery in a statement. Prospective buyers with deep pockets can log onto Veredart.com for info.
