Kudocast pays tribute to the King of Pop
Janet Jackson made an emotional surprise appearance at Sunday’s BET Awards at the Shrine Auditorium.
“To you, Michael is an icon; to us, Michael is family,” she said. “On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all of your love, thank you for all of your support. We miss him so much.”
The kudocast, which was completely overhauled after the news of Michael Jackson’s death Thursday, paid tribute with personal testimonials from celebs who knew Jackson and homage clips, including musicvideos and family photos.
The show opened with a rendition of the Jackson 5’s “ABC,” while host Jamie Foxx got the audience on their feet with his best dance moves from Jackson’s “Thriller” video.
The night’s winners, including Beyonce, Taraji P. Henson and Alicia Keys, all made reference to Jackson in their acceptance speeches, thanking the King of Pop.
“Michael Jackson touched all the world,” Henson said. “He made it easier for all of us to be who we are.”
