WMG's chief exec expands role at label
NEW YORK — Todd Moscowitz, chief exec of Warner Music Group’s indie labels, is expanding his purview to become exec VP at flagship Warner Bros. Records.
At the helm of WMG’s Independent Label Group, Moscowitz oversees labels such as Asylum and East West. He will remain in that role, but Asylum will migrate to the Warner Bros. stable.
Moscowitz is expected to fortify Warner Bros.’ roster of urban artists, which has been his industry calling card. Soon after joining Asylum as prexy in 2004, the exec boosted the fortunes of Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Bun B, D4L, Webbie and other hip-hop artists.
Prior to Asylum, he was g.m. of Def Jam, head of Rush Communications and a partner at Violator Management, where he steered clients such as 50 Cent and Missy Elliott.
