ABC sales unit snags ESPN radio stations
“SportsCenter” is ready to roll out its West Coast edition.ESPN will begin broadcasting its signature show on April 6 from the cabler’s new production headquarters in the L.A. Live entertainment complex, adjacent to the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. The 10 p.m. Pacific time, 1 a.m. Eastern installment of “SportsCenter” will eminate from L.A. Live with anchors Neil Everett and Stan Verrett handling anchor duties. The pair are moving west from the net’s Bristol, Conn., headquarters. ESPN personality Stuart Scott will also come to L.A. in April and will be attached to several specials. On the radio side, ABC Regional Sports & Entertainment Sales now has ESPN’s five company-owned radio stations as clients. Stations in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Dallas and Pittsburgh will have its ad sales and sponsorships represented by the ABC firm that, like the stations, fall under the Walt Disney umbrella. Each of the stations carry local sports programming as well as national ESPN broadcasts, including the World Series, NBA Championship and several college football bowl games. ESPN has 350 radio affiliates around the country.
