Compilation consists of Swedish censors' cuts
All the sex and violence that Swedish auds were deemed not mature enough to see over some 70 years will be on display in all their cinematic glory at this year’s Gothenburg film fest.
Filmmaker Markus Ohrn has gathered all the cuts the National Board of Film Censors made between 1934 and 2002 and edited them together in chronological order. The result is “Magic Bullet,” a 55-hour compilation consisting solely of censors’ cuts.
Pic encompasses everything from Disney cuts to get a G-rating to trims made in regular features in which the censors deemed the sex, nudity and violence too strong.
Pic will screened at the Atalante cinema beginning Jan. 23 at 5.30 p.m., with continuous screenings running every day between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.
A string of seminars about censorship also will unfold at the fest.
