Indie distribution unit teams with news provider
Los Angeles-based indie distrib Veranda Entertainment has clinched a partnership deal with Hispanic news and information provider ImpreMedia.
Pact will make Veranda’s extensive catalog of Latin films, sports programming and other content available on ImpreMedia’s online properties on a free/ad-supported basis.
Veranda recently secured TV distribution rights to the film catalogs of production company Peliculas Rodriguez and heartthrob Pedro Infante, some 300 pics considered seminal to the Golden Age of Mexican cinema, which had been held by Mexican media giant Televisa for decades.
“Users will have access to content that has not been easily available in the past, rights-holders will develop a new revenue source, and our publishing partners get new content for their audience and new revenue streams from their online portals,” said Veranda chief operating officer Randall Green.
ImpreMedia properties include Spanish-language newspapers La Opinion in Los Angeles, El Diario in New York and La Raza in Chicago plus the papers’ websites and its own portal, impre.com.
