Jane Alexander and Stockard Channing will topline the David Hare two-hander “The Breath of Life” at the Westport Country Playhouse in Westport, Conn. this fall.
Mark Lamos, a.d. of the Playhouse, will helm the production. “Breath” starred Judi Dench and Maggie Smith when the work premiered in London in 2002.
Set on the Isle of Wright, narrative is centered on an encounter between a retired curator who was the longtime mistress of a radical English lawyer and the man’s ex-wife, a successful London novelist.
The play had its U.S. preem at the Peterborough Players in New Hampshire last month, followed by a production at Gloucester (Mass.) Stage.
Westport production runs Sept. 29-Oct. 17.
