Thesps set benefit show

Neuwirth, Hoty among those honoring Claffey

Bebe Neuwirth, Eric Jordan Young, Dee Hoty and Jim Walton are among the performers who will turn out for a September gala honoring James J. Claffey Jr., prexy of Local One, the area chapter of the stagehands union.

Another Rialto vet, Liz Callaway, emcees the event, which benefits St. Malachy’s, the midtown church known as the Actors’ Chapel. The church will put some of the coin raised toward its incipient child-care project for stage thesps.

Among the evening’s performances, Young will do a song from the upcoming revival of “Ragtime” and Hoty and Walton will sing something from the fall production of “Bye Bye Birdie.”

Benefit is set for Sept. 14 at Sardi’s.
