Sundance Institute unveils summer season
Shows from Tony-winning actor Denis O’Hare and performance artist Taylor Mac are among the new works to be developed this summer at the Sundance Institute’s Summer Theater Lab.
O’Hare and helmer Lisa Peterson will work on “An Iliad,” a one-man adaptation of the Homer epic, while Mac will develop one act of a multi-part, 40-performer piece called “The Lily’s Revenge,” directed by David Drake.
Lab also will host Carlos Murillo’s “Diary of a Paper Airplane,” Odile Gakire Katese’s “Ngwino Ubeho (Come and Be Alive)” and David Cale’s “Palomino.”
Creatives will work with dramaturges and advisers including Pulitzer-winning scribe Lynn Nottage and director Tony Taccone.
Lab runs July 7-22 at the Sundance Resort in Utah. Past alums of the program include “Spring Awakening” and “I Am My Own Wife.”
