Up-and-coming scribes on slate
Seven plays and one tuner, all by up-and-coming scribes, are on the slate of the Summer Play Festival, an annual Gotham showcase of new legit work.
A couple of scribes — Kevin Christopher Snipes, appearing in SPF with drama “The Chimes” and Alena Smith, with comedy-drama “The Sacrifices” — are members of the Emerging Writers Group at Off Broadway’s Public Theater, where SPF runs July 7-Aug. 2.
International entries come from Brit Dougal Irvine, who pens tuner “Departure Lounge,” and Aussie Rick Viede, selected for his thriller “Whore.”
Also on the list are “The Happy Sad” by Ken Urban, “Reborning” by Zayd Dohrn, “Tender” by Nicki Bloom” and “We Declare You a Terrorist” by Tim J. Lord.
Lineup was culled from 1,400 submissions.
