Lemon Anderson wrote, performs stage memoir
Spike Lee has signed on as one of the presenters of “County of Kings,” the solo show penned and performed by Lemon Andersen and beginning perfs at Off Broadway’s Public Theater later this month.
The one-man stage memoir by Brooklyn hip-hop artist Andersen (“Def Poetry Jam” on Broadway) was first seen at the Public last year as part of the Under the Radar Fest. Elise Thoron directs.
Lee joins the Culture Project, Steve Colman, Jayson Jackson and Tom Wirtshafter as producers of the show, presented in association with the Public and the American Place Theater.
Lee’s recent pic “Passing Strange” was a celluloid version of the tuner that originated at the Public before it went on to a run on Broadway.
