Musical hits the road
“Shrek the Musical” is hitting the road, with the tuner launching a national tour in Chicago next year.
Musical, which opened on Broadway in December, will send out its touring production just ahead of another of the season’s musical offerings, “West Side Story,” going out in fall 2010.
Jason Moore, who helmed “Shrek” on Broadway, reprises his directorial duties for the road incarnation. Tuner has book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori.
“Shrek” plays the Oriental Theater at Chi’s Ford Center for the Performing Arts in a stint that begins June 2010.
Casting for the tour, as well as further stops, have not yet been confirmed.
