Richard Thomas will join the previously announced James Spader in “Race,” the new David Mamet play that bows on Broadway in the fall.
With plot details scarce, it’s unclear what kind of character Thomas will play. Thesp is soon to appear in a summer staging of Terrence McNally’s “Unusual Acts of Devotion” at La Jolla Playhouse.
Mamet shows have become a regular presence on the Rialto in recent seasons, with new play “November” and revival “Speed-the-Plow” both doing stints at the Ethel Barrymore Theater, also home to “Race.”
Mamet will also direct his latest play, set to begin previews Nov. 17 ahead of a Dec. 6 opening.
