Manhattan Theater Club issued a statement Friday that Lynn Redgrave will open as scheduled in her new solo play “Nightingale,” despite undergoing treatment whose side-effects necessitate that she rely on a script for the entire run of the play.
Beginning previews Oct. 15 for a Nov. 3 opening at City Center Stage 1, the Off Broadway production explores memories of Redgrave’s grandmother and her troubled relationship with her family. MTC produces by special arrangement with Jeffrey Richards/Jerry Frankel and Dennis Grimaldi.
A long-time cancer survivor, Redgrave was recently diagnosed with a medical condition requiring immediate treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
“We are proud that Lynn will grace the stage at City Center with her new play, and (in true Redgrave tradition) we applaud her eagerness to see that the show goes on,” said the producers.
