Slate includes plays from Wright, Thurber
Plays by Craig Wright, Annie Baker and Lucy Thurber are on the 2009-10 lineup at Off Broadway’s Rattlestick Playwrights Theater.
Org’s 15th anniversary season opens with Thurber’s “Killers and Other Family,” a revival of a play that Rattlestick first produced in 2001. Caitriona McLaughlin helms the show, about a woman whose on-the-run brother shows up unexpectedly. Production begins previews Sept. 17 ahead of a Sept. 24 opening.
Rest of the season consists of three world preems, first of which is Mando Alvarado’s “Post No Bills,” about a woman who moves to a big city in the hopes of becoming a singer-songwriter. Michael Ray Escamilla directs the show, which starts previews Nov. 11 and opens Nov. 16.
Next up is Wright’s “Blind,” a contempo retelling of the Oedipus myth, with perf dates and a director still to be confirmed.
Season finishes off with Baker’s “The Aliens,” about two men who meet a high school student outside a Vermont coffee shop. Helmed by Sam Gold, show starts previews April 15 for an April 22 opening.
