Louise Pitre will reunite with “Mamma Mia!” creatives Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus to star in their tuner “Kristina,” getting a two-night concert performance at Carnegie Hall next month.
Pitre toplined “Mamma Mia!” when it bowed on Broadway in 2001 and stayed with the show for two years. The actress will portray former prostitute Ulrika in “Kristina,” which, as previously announced, will star Swedish thesp Helen Sjoholm in the title role.
Russell Watson and Kevin Odekirk also will star in the musical, about a family’s migration from Sweden to the U.S. in the 1800s.
“Kristina” preemed in Malmo in a 1995 Swedish-language production, followed by a 1996 concert in Minneapolis.
Directed by Lars Rudolfsson, “Kristina” plays Carnegie Hall Sept. 23-24.
