Revival now set for Jan. 12-Feb 7 at Club Nokia

Pee-wee’s playhouse just got bigger.

Due to strong advance demand, the upcoming return of Paul Reubens’ “The Pee-wee Herman Show” has moved venues, switching to Club Nokia @ LA Live for a four-week run, Jan. 12-Feb. 7.

Scott Sanders (“The Color Purple”) has joined the show as lead producer, presenting with Goldenvoice and Bud Light, in association with Jared Geller and David J. Foster. Off Broadway regulars Alex Timbers and David Korins will direct and design, respectively, suggesting that the show may be eyeing a New York berth after its Los Angeles bow.

Adapted from the original 1981 live production by Reubens, Bill Steinkellner and John Paragon, the new version will feature many of the characters familiar to fans of the CBS series “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” and the 1985 Tim Burton movie “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.”

The show was initially announced for a Nov. 8 start at Hollywood’s Music Box Theater.
