‘Mary Poppins’ strong in Chicago

Road grosses

NEW YORK — The road grosses were up 29% for Week 42 (March 9-15), bringing the total gross for the 14-show slate to $13,970,147.

The road tour of “Mary Poppins” has begun in Chicago, grossing $807,841 in its first six-perf week.

The Portland, Ore., production of “Wicked” broke the house record at the Keller Auditorium again, the Fort Myers, Fla., production of same broke the record at the Barbara B. Mann, and “The Lion King” was once again the week’s biggest earner with $1,481,336 in its final week at the Paramount in Seattle.

Mirvish Theatricals, the Canadian partners in the Toronto leg of “The Color Purple” road tour, have declined to report grosses.
