Long, Olmos are Storytelling Fellows

Time Warner fellowship to support playwrights

Playwrights Quincy Long and Matthew Paul Olmos have been named 2009 Time Warner Storytelling Fellows at the Sundance Institute Theater Program.

Long (“People Be Heard”) scored the fellowship with his play “The Huntsmen,” about a boy plagued by bad dreams, while Olmos snagged the residency for “I Put the Fear of Mexico in ‘Em,” about an American couple’s chance encounter in an alley in Mexico.

Sundance fellowships are funded by the two-year-old Time Warner Storytelling Advancement Fund, which awards grants and creative support to up to 20 fellows over a four-year timeframe.

Filmmakers Elgin James (“Goodnight Moon”) and Ritesh Batra (“The Story of Ram”), both slated to participate next month in Sundance’s 2009 Directors Lab, also won fellowships.
