“Love, Linda,” a new solo tuner about the wife of Cole Porter, will bow at Off Broadway’s Triad Theater this fall.
Jazz vocalist Stevie Holland stars as Linda Porter and also co-wrote the book, which incorporates Cole Porter tunes including “In the Still of the Night,” “Night and Day” and “So in Love.”
Co-writing the book and arranging the music is Gary William Friedman, whose work as a composer includes 1970 tuner “The Me Nobody Knows” and the Spider-Man theme song from “The Electric Company.” Ben West, whose staging of “How Now, Dow Jones” was part of Gotham’s 2009 Fringe Fest, directs.
Tuner centers on the 35-year marriage between Cole and Linda, who for the most part remained devoted to her husband despite the numerous same-sex relationships he had while they were married.
Produced by 150 Prods., “Love, Linda” will play the Triad Oct. 28-Nov. 21.
