Laura Osnes sets sails for ‘Pacific’

'Grease' girl to replace O'Hara

Laura Osnes, the TV reality show discovery selected to play Sandy in last season’s Broadway revival of “Grease,” will take over from Kelli O’Hara as Ensign Nellie Forbush in the Lincoln Center Theater’s production of “South Pacific,” beginning March 10.

O’Hara, who originated the role in Bartlett Sher’s Tony-winning revival, will play her final performance March 7. She is scheduled to return to the production Oct. 6 after maternity leave.

“South Pacific” opened last April at LCT’s Broadway house, the Vivian Beaumont, immediately switching its status after rave reviews from limited engagement to open-ended run. It has played to near-capacity crowds since, with grosses to date of $41.2 million.

Osnes previously was scheduled to appear in “A Little Night Music” at White Plains Performing Arts Center, running March 5-22. Her role in that production will be taken over by Erin Davie (“Grey Gardens”).
