Landau to direct ‘Brother/Sister’

Helmer set for all three parts

Tina Landau will direct all three parts of Tarell Alvin McCraney’s “The Brother/Sister Plays” at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater, running in repertory Jan. 21-May 23.

The trilogy has been a hit this season at the Public Theater, where Landau directed part one, “In the Red and Brown Water”; parts two and three, “The Brothers Size” and “Marcus; Or the Secret of Sweet,” were staged by Robert O’Hara.

Drawing on Yoruban myth, McCraney’s work chronicles stories of love, death and sexuality in a poor bayou community.

Landau, a Steppenwolf ensemble member, is repped on Broadway this season by her production of “Superior Donuts.”
