‘HSM2’ stageshow heads overseas

Jeff Calhoun will direct British version

The stage version of “High School Musical 2” gets a term abroad later this year, with the legit adaptation of the Disney Channel telepic opening in London in the summer and going on to a U.K. tour.

Jeff Calhoun, who staged the Stateside preem of both “HSM2” and the original “High School Musical,” helms “HSM2” in Blighty, where the show will launch at London’s Wimbledon New Theater in August.

From London, the production will go on tour to Manchester, Brighton and Belfast, among other cities, with engagements in 2010 still to be announced.

Produced by Stage Entertainment U.K. in association with Disney Theatrical Prods., the Brit tour of “HSM2” kicks off in London Aug. 22-Sept. 5.
