Jude Law-starrer to open on Oct. 6
The Broadway-bound staging of “Hamlet” starring Jude Law will arrive in Gotham with a cast made up of thesps from both its hit West End run, now playing, and its subsequent stint in Elsinore, Denmark.
Three actors will join the Michael Grandage production in Elsinore and then move on to New York, including Geraldine James stepping into the role of Gertrude (played by Penelope Wilton in the London incarnation).
Most West End performers, though, are sticking around for the Rialto, including Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Ophelia), Kevin R. McNally (Claudius) and Peter Eyre (Ghost, Player King), among others.
Produced on Broadway by Arielle Tepper Madover, “Hamlet” begins previews Sept. 12 ahead of an Oct. 6 opening at the Broadhurst Theater.
