Dance-theater piece to open at Joyce

Dance-theater piece “Groovaloo” will bow at the Joyce Theater in September, marking the New York preem of a show that stars the winners of NBC skein “Superstars of Dance.”

Production, created by Bradley Rapier and director Danny Cistone, incorporates dance, music and spoken word to chronicle the true stories of the 14 members of hip-hop troupe the Groovaloos.

An earlier version of the production had a 2005 run in L.A., where the current staging will play Aug. 21-30 before arriving in Gotham for a Sept. 15-27 engagement.

Produced by Big League Prods., “Groovaloo” will kick of a national tour in January.
