Gotham reading for ‘Wonderland’

Show to premiere this fall in Tampa

“Wonderland,” a new Frank Wildhorn tuner based on “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” will have an industry reading in Gotham Friday ahead of its fall preem at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in Florida.

Cast for the New York showcase includes Lauren Kennedy as Alice, Julia Murney as the Queen, Nikki Snelson as the Mad Hatter and John Treacy Egan as Jabberwock.

With tunes by Wildhorn (“Jekyll and Hyde,” “The Scarlet Pimpernel”), lyrics by Jack Murphy (who wrote the lyrics for Wildhorn’s musical “The Civil War”) and book by Phoebe Hwang, “Wonderland: Alice’s New Musical Adventure” is helmed by Gregory Boyd (who co-wrote the book for “Civil War”). Full production, which has not yet been cast, begins perfs in Tampa in November.
