Cullum, Domingo and Dixon join ‘Boys’

Trio of thesps lead cast of Kander and Ebb tuner

John Cullum (“110 in the Shade”), Colman Domingo (“A Boy and His Soul”) and Brandon Victor Dixon (“The Color Purple”) will lead the cast of “The Scottsboro Boys,” the new tuner by John Kander and Fred Ebb that opens at Off Broadway’s Vineyard Theater in March.

Show, one of the final works by Kander and the late Ebb (“Chicago,” “Cabaret”), centers on the real-life story of a group of African American teens accused of assaulting a pair of white women in the 1930s. Book is by David Thompson (“Steel Pier”).

Design team includes Beowulf Boritt (set), Toni-Leslie James (costumes), Kevin Adams (lights) and Peter Hylenski (sound).

Susan Stroman directs and choreographs the show, which begins previews Feb. 12 ahead of a March 10 opening.
