Wilshire theater nabs new name

Donation from Saban family brings new name

The Wilshire Theater Beverly Hills will be renamed the Saban Theater in recognition of a $5 million grant from Haim and Cheryl Saban.

According to the Beverly Hills Performing Arts Center, the Sabans’ donation will fund the continuing restoration of the theater’s orchestra and proscenium areas as well as the refurbishment of the building’s marquee.

“This theater is not only an important centerpiece for the performing arts but also serves as a home for numerous charitable undertakings, programs that benefit the community and the Temple of the Arts, which integrates the arts into religious services,” said Haim Saban.

“This lead gift will move us steadily toward our four goals of preservation, restoration, modernization and endowment and will encourage others to give,” said BHPAC prexy Rabbi David Baron.
