Festival of Musicals sets season

SoCal event to run April through July

The second annual Festival of New American Musicals will run April through July in venues across Southern California.

Four-month fest, which features full productions, staged readings and workshops of tuners in progress, includes more than 25 offerings across venues such as the Pantages Theater, South Coast Repertory and the Rubicon Theater.

Marcia Seligson, Bob Klein and Linda Shusett are exec producing and have enlisted creative advisers Stephen Schwartz and Michael Kerker, director of musical theater for ASCAP.

Honorary co-chairs of the fest are Schwartz, Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Jason Alexander and Angela Lansbury.
