Zwick wins Acad board runoff vote

Joins Coolidge, Hanson repping directors branch

Edward Zwick will join the board of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences after winning a runoff election.

He will be one of three board members repping the directors branch, joining Martha Coolidge and Curtis Hanson. In the first balloting, Zwick had scored the same number of votes as Gil Cates, marking the first time the Acad had seen a tie in board balloting.

Runoff ballots were sent out earlier this month and returned to the Acad on Wednesday.
