Braverman, Propper to hold next event in 2010

The organizers behind this year’s inaugural West Coast Documentary and Reality Conference are drawing up plans to make it an annual event.

Documentary helmer Chuck Braverman and Solid Ent. CEO Richard Propper, who co-founded the event — nicknamed Westdoc — said they plan to hold a second conference next September.

“It was evident that we had addressed a need,” Propper said.

Braverman and Propper said more than 400 attended this year’s Westdoc, which took place Sept. 14-16 in Santa Monica. Attendees included delegations from China, Canada, Germany, Holland and the U.K.

“We had two major challenges — the economy, for one,” Braverman said. “And we were also doing something new. ”

Event included keynotes from R.J. Cutler (“The September Issue”) and Thom Beers (“The Deadliest Catch”), as well as screenings, expert panels and an all-day pitchfest.
