The Weinstein Co. has hired consulting firm Miller Buckfire & Co. to explore its financial options.
The 4-year-old studio, founded by Bob and Harvey Weinstein after the brothers split with Miramax, didn’t disclose further details.
“As a matter of practice we have always worked with financial institutions to explore our options with respect to equity and possible investments, and it is something we will continue to do,” the statement said. “This was an ordinary course we took at Miramax, the Weinstein Co. and every business venture we have had in our 30-year career.”
TWC released “The Reader” and “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” last year. Each grossed more than $30 million domestically and added another $50 million outside the U.S.
Studio is releasing Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” and Rob Zombie’s “H2” in August and Rob Marshall’s “Nine” in the fall.
