Vue pacts with CinemaNX

Exhib chain inks distrib deal with financier-producer

LONDON — U.K. exhib chain Vue Entertainment is taking its first steps into distribution through a pact with financier-producer CinemaNX.

CinemaNX, which is backed by the Isle of Man government, will supply Vue with at least three pics over the coming year, starting with Richard Linklater’s “Me and Orson Welles.”

Marketing of the titles will be handled jointly. Gemma Spector, head of marketing at U.K. distrib Revolver for the past four years, has been tapped as CinemaNX’s U.K. head of distribution. Spector will oversee the pics’ marketing campaigns alongside Mark de Quervain, Vue’s sales and marketing director.

Besides “Me and Orson Welles,” which toplines Zac Efron, Claire Danes and Ben Chaplin, CinemaNX has three films in post-production: “Heartless,” starring Jim Sturgess, Clemence Poesy, Eddie Marsan, Timothy Spall and Noel Clarke, and directed by Philip Ridley; “Wild Target,” starring Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt, Rupert Grint, Martin Freeman, Eileen Atkins and Rupert Everett, and directed by Jonathan Lynn; and “The Disappearance of Alice Creed,” starring Gemma Arterton, Eddie Marsan and Martin Compston, and directed by J. Blakeson.
