CANNES — The Weinstein Co. has acquired international rights to “The Fighter” from Relativity Media.
David O. Russell-directed pic is set to star Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale. It’s in pre-production.
Boxing story about half-brothers “Irish” Micky Ward and Dickie Eklund was written by Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson, with most recent script drafts by Scott Silver and Lewis Colick.
Paramount Pictures will distribute the film domestically.
TWC’s Dimension label, meanwhile, has acquired all remake rights to Israeli comedy “A Matter of Size” from United Channels Movies.
Redo will be produced by David Permut, who brought the project to Dimension.

Erez Tadmor and Sharon Maymon co-directed the original film, which unspooled at the Tribeca Film Festival last month. Maymon co-wrote the script with Danny Cohen-Solal.
