Deal for Weinsteins to release Zeta-Jones starrer
The Weinstein Co. and the Film Department are negotiating a deal for the Weinstein brothers to release Catherine Zeta-Jones starrer “The Rebound.”
Deal would include pickups for the U.S., France and Italy, but it’s contingent upon the Film Department bringing P&A to the table.
Film Department topper Mark Gill, who used to run the Weinsteins’ L.A. operations, said he’s in the process of securing the marketing coin to seal the agreement.
The Bart Freundlich-helmed romantic comedy wrapped last summer but had not found a U.S. home.
Pic, which co-stars Justin Bartha, is about a New York single mom who becomes involved with a younger man.
Film Department financed and handled foreign sales. “Rebound” has been sold to overseas territories including the U.K., South Korea and the Benelux.
