‘The Dark Knight’

Dream scenes: memorable moments from '08

Now that’s how you extradite someone. In “The Dark Knight,” Batman (Christian Bale) must nab mob accountant Lau (Chin Han) from his maximum-security Hong Kong high-rise in order to remove hundreds of criminals from the streets of Gotham City. After soaring on a pair of giant bat wings from the top of a nearby building, the caped crusader smashes through the window of Lau’s office, surprising Lau’s befuddled henchmen. After a quick brawl, Batman grabs Lau and throws a blinking helium balloon out of a newly created hole in the side of the building. A cargo plane flies by and catches the line, yanking Batman and Lau out into the night and back to Gotham. Frenetic, surprising and unexpected, this scene shows exactly how committed Batman is to cleaning up Gotham and sets the tone for the action-packed blockbuster film.
