Target has ‘Monster’ in its sights

Film company acquires rights to 'Story'

LONDON — Target Entertainment has acquired the rights to “Monster: The Josef Fritzl Story.”

Feature-length doc is about the Austrian businessman who was arrested and accused of locking up his daughter Elizabeth for 24 years in the cellar of their family home.

Fritzl is alleged to have sexually abused his daughter and fathered seven children with her.

Doc will feature previously unseen footage and material of Fritzl and include interviews with close family friends and relatives.

The Fritzl case shocked the Austrian media when news of it broke last April. The businessman is set to stand trial on March 16 in Austria on charges of deprivation of liberty, rape, incest and coercion.

Doc is produced by indie U.K. shingle Back2Back Prods.

“Over a series of months we have managed to uncover elements to the story that are almost too brutal to comprehend,” said Back2Back managing director David Notman-Watt.
