‘Tank’s’ Jarvis signs with UTA

Thesp made screen debut in Cannes pic

Days after making her screen debut in Cannes competition drama “Fish Tank,” Katie Jarvis emerged from a whirlwind courtship with Hollywood talent agencies by signing with United Talent Agency.

Buzz on the Croisette about her perf helped drum up interest in the thesp. In the Andrea Arnold-directed pic, the 17-year-old Jarvis plays a troubled 15-year-old dropout living in a rough housing project. In her first acting role, Jarvis has been singled out for praise, with Varietycalling her performance “mesmerizing.”

Jarvis reportedly was discovered by one of the film’s casting assistants, who observed her arguing with her boyfriend on a train platform in her English hometown of Tilbury. She got the part after reading along with numerous trained actresses.

UTA will rep Jarvis for film, TV and stage roles. The agency will rep her with U.K.-based ARG Agency, which recently signed her.
