Slate pairs with Potboiler

Duo to produce 'Mission,' 'Effie'

LONDON — Brit producer Andrea Calderwood (“The Last King of Scotland”) has hitched her Slate Films to Simon Channing-Williams and Gail Egan’s Potboiler Prods. (“Happy Go-Lucky”) under the Potboiler banner.

The new company’s upcoming projects includes Neal Purvis and Rob Wade’s John le Carre adaptation “The Mission Song,” Victorian drama “Effie,” helmer Gabriel Range’s “Slave,” Dan Mazer laffer “Stiff” and Biyi Bandele’s adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s best-seller “Half of a Yellow Sun.”

Potboiler will also expand its TV productions. The company recently won the U.K. Film Council’s Vision Award, which offers selected local production companies a discretionary fund with which to develop projects.

“In the uncertain world of British feature film production, it’s great to be part of such a strong team and have a shared vision for the films we want to see made,” said Calderwood.
