Screen Media Films loves ‘Dancing’

Film unit acquires romantic comedy

Screen Media Films has acquired Robert Iscove’s romantic comedy “Love ‘n’ Dancing,” starring Amy Smart and Tom Malloy.

The movie will initially unspool in seven U.S. cities: Los Angeles, Atlanta, Phoenix, San Diego, San Antonio, Salt Lake City and Nashville, with plans to move to other markets after its initial launch. Time frames for the film’s rollout have not yet been announced.

Pic, which also stars Billy Zane, Rachel Dratch and Betty White, follows a bored English teacher played by Smart who falls for a West Coast swing dancing champion (Malloy) despite her attachment to her fiance (Zane). The film is produced by Malloy, who also wrote the screenplay, and Sylvia Caminer and Robert Royston, the latter of whom choreographed the pic’s dance sequences.
