Hollywood union publicists have tapped Variety editor-in-chief Peter Bart to receive their lifetime achievement award in recognition of his two decades at Variety.
The kudo will be presented at the Intl. Cinematographer Guild’s 46th annual Publicists Awards luncheon Feb. 18 at the Beverly Hilton.
“In addition to his years as editor of Variety, the award recognizes Peter’s deep roots in entertainment, having distinguished himself as a reporter for the New York Times; as executive vice president of production at Paramount Studios, where he played a key role in such films as ‘The Godfather,’ ‘Paper Moon,’ ‘Harold and Maude,’ ‘True Grit’ and ‘Rosemary’s Baby’; and as co-host, with Peter Guber, of television’s ‘Shootout,’ ” said awards committee chief Henri Bollinger.
Previous recipients include Lew Wasserman, Sid Ganis, Julie Andrews, Clint Eastwood, Warren Beatty, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Variety columnist Army Archerd and Harrison Ford.
