Plymouth Rock may move forward

Film, TV campus secures financing

BOSTON — The long-gestating Plymouth Rock Studios, a $550 million film and television campus to be constructed in Plymouth, Mass., may be moving forward.

Project’s backers, who include former Paramount Pictures executives David Kirkpatrick and Earl Lestz, confirmed last week that they are in the process of securing financing from Prosperity Intl., an investment firm in Orlando, Fla.

The proposed studio would have 14 soundstages, with 10 acres for exterior sets. In addition, the announced plans include production offices, post-production facilities, a theater and a hotel.

To close the deal, Plymouth Rock Studios has to provide security in the form of a bank instrument from a major bank. The company provided no further details except to note that it was “in the process of securing the instrument.”

Plymouth Rock Studios said it already has leasing commitments for more than half of the office, post-production and retail space, and has secured necessary approvals or waivers from state and local officials.
