Palm Springs honors trio

Festival awards to Renner, Reitman, Burnett

The Palm Springs Film Festival announced three additional honorees, for breakthrough performance, director of the year and film composing.

Jeremy Renner’s performance in “The Hurt Locker” impressed the fest, as did Jason Reitman’s direction of “Up and in the Air.” The Frederick Lowe Award will go to T Bone Burnett for his score for “Crazy Heart.”
