Paley Center sets DocFest slate

'Way We Get By' to open fest on Oct. 8

The Paley Center for Media has set the lineup for its DocFest, with 10 films unspooling throughout October.

Fest will take place at the org’s Gotham location only, and will begin Oct. 8 with “The Way We Get By,” which explores how different generations of war veterans come to terms with serving their country.

Following each screening, filmmakers will participate in a Q&A session to discuss their pics.

Other films include “American Masters: Joan Baez — How Sweet the Sound” (Oct. 9), “The Rise and Fall of the Berlin Wall” (Oct. 20) and “The Rise and Fall of Jimmy ‘The Greek’ Snyder” (Oct. 22). Fest closes with “Poliwood” (Oct. 29), from director Barry Levinson, about the intersection of politics and Hollywood.

“The festival will explore that now-amplified interconnection between politics and culture that can change society,” said Paley Center president-CEO Pat Mitchell.
