Hollywood Reporter, Billboard among brands for sale
According to a Paid Content report, Nielsen Business Media is about two weeks from selling its print and online properties to a consortium led by James Finkelstein’s News Communications.
Paid Content editor-founder Rafat Ali writes that, according to “multiple sources,” Nielsen is finalizing its plans, and News Corp. board member Lachlan Murdoch may join the consortium.
Among the brands that would be included in the deal are the Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Adweek, Mediaweek, Brandweek and Editor & Publisher.
Nielsen would retain its events, according to Paid Content, and some international territories.
News Communications, which owns congressional newspaper The Hill and the Who’s Who franchise, is controlled by chairman Jerry Finkelstein and his son, James, who is president and CEO.
The pending sale was first reported by TheWrap.com, although the site’s most recent reports said the deal would close today.
