Horror comic headed for the bigscreen

Myriad Pictures is reteaming with comicbook publisher Studio 407 to bring the horror series “The Night Projectionist” to the bigscreen.

“Projectionist” marks the second title produced under Studio 407’s first-look deal with Myriad — the first being the comicbook “Hybrid,” which is tentatively scheduled to begin production later this year.

Story takes place on Halloween Eve in a small-town movie theater, where an all-night Draculathon draws throngs of moviegoers who suddenly find themselves locked inside the theater, which is slowly filling with vampires.

Myriad’s recent credits include the Catherine Zeta-Jones starrer “Death Defying Acts” and the biopic “Kinsey.” The financing, production and foreign sales outfit has also enjoyed box-office success in the horror genre with such pics as “Jeepers Creepers 2.”

The first issue of “The Night Projectionist” miniseries will hit shelves in February.
