Mary J. Blige added to Perry film

'I Can Do Bad' also stars Taraji P. Henson

Mary J. Blige has signed on to star alongside Taraji P. Henson in “I Can Do Bad All by Myself,” Tyler Perry’s upcoming film for Lionsgate.

Pic, based on his play of the same name, is set for a nationwide release on Sept. 11.

Blige will portray a nightclub manager and singer who is a good friend to Henson’s character. Perry’s signature character Madea will be featured in the film.

Lensing is taking place at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.

Blige has 10 platinum and multiplatinum records to her credit.
