Lionsgate hops on ‘Panopticon’

Peter Cornwell will direct thriller from Craig Rosenberg’s script

Lionsgate has reunited with its “The Haunting in Connecticut” director Peter Cornwell on “The Panopticon,” a sci-fi thriller mystery script by Craig Rosenberg.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian will produce and Rosenberg will be exec producer.

Lionsgate acquired the project as a spec, and will finance the film and control worldwide rights. The plan is to put it into production next year.

In “The Panopticon,” a salesman receives a pre-recorded message from himself that tells him the world is about to end and only he can save it.

Spec was brought to Lionsgate by di Bonaventura and Vahradian. Lionsgate plugged in Cornwell, whose “Haunting in Connecticut” grossed north of $55 million.

Rosenberg’s credits include the DreamWorks thriller “The Uninvited” and “Lost.”
